The Quail course, a favorite of more than half of our membership, is a golf course where placement of the tee shot is more important than length. But if one compares the Quail’s 6,233 yards from the blue tees with the Creek’s 6,351 yards from the white, it is every bit as challenging.
Two of the par 5’s present the possibility of hitting errant tee shots into water and it’s easy to hit second shots into lagoons on three of them. Four of the par 4’s are dog-legs, all with the potential for attracting wayward shots into trees, palmettos or water. Still the layout is eminently fair and rewards good course management.
The greens are substantially contoured on the Quail’s eighteen holes, creating opportunity for a wide variety of pin placements. Even if you’re playing from the white or red tees, the Quail makes it fun but not particularly easy to get down in two putts. The more you play it, the more you’ll like it!
